Exterior
restoration of a
turn-of-the-century cottage in Thousand Island Park, NY.
During the mid 1900's the exterior was clad in large cedar
shingles. The owner wanted to remove that siding to see what
was underneath. Still in good shape, the original shiplap
or cove-mould siding was revealed and repaired where needed.
In addition, siding that wasn't put on the massing of a later
addition was replaced to match the original.
In
addition, the majority of the front porch was rebuilt to return
it closer to its original condition. This included remaking
the turned columns and repairing / replacing gingerbread trim
details.
